Fittopia Health Care · Richmond, BC
Registered massage therapy
Hands-on treatment from Registered Massage Therapists in Richmond, built to ease tension, support recovery, and keep you moving well. Care for your body right where you train.

What it is
Treatment built around your body
Registered Massage Therapy is hands-on treatment of the muscles, connective tissue, and joints, delivered by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) who is registered with the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC). It is clinically informed care, not a one-size-fits-all rubdown.
Every session starts with an assessment of your posture and movement, so your therapist can understand what is actually driving your tension or discomfort. From there they build a tailored treatment plan and choose the techniques that fit your goals, adjusting pressure to your comfort throughout.
Because the clinic sits under the same roof as our Pilates and fitness floors, treatment fits naturally into how you already train. Recovery and care happen right where you move, as part of a whole-person approach to feeling and performing your best.
Eases muscle tension
Hands-on techniques help tight, overworked muscles release, so areas that feel locked up can move more freely.
Supports recovery
Treatment is timed around your training and Pilates so your body has the support it needs between sessions.
Helps you move better
By addressing tightness and restricted tissue, treatment supports better posture, range of motion, and everyday comfort.
Calms the nervous system
Slow, deliberate work can help lower stress and tension that builds up through busy weeks of work and training.
What it helps with
What does registered massage therapy help with?
People come to us for a wide range of everyday aches, recovery needs, and tension. Here are some of the most common reasons clients book a session.
Muscle tension and tightness
Stubborn knots and tight areas in the shoulders, hips, and legs.
Back, neck and shoulder pain
Discomfort from desk work, screen time, and long days on your feet.
Post-training and post-Pilates recovery
Soreness and fatigue after a hard week of training or reformer work.
Sports and overuse injuries
Strains and repetitive-load aches that come with an active routine.
Posture and mobility
Restricted movement and the stiffness that comes with poor posture.
Headaches and jaw tension
Tension-type headaches linked to tight neck, shoulder, and jaw muscles.
Stress and everyday tension
The physical build-up that stress leaves in the body over time.
Pre and post-event athletic care
Targeted work before and after races, games, and big efforts.
Massage therapy supports your body and helps manage these concerns. It is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or care. If you have a specific health condition, your therapist will work alongside your other health providers.
Our approach
Techniques we use
Your therapist draws on a full toolkit and blends the right techniques for your body. No two treatment plans look exactly the same.
01
Therapeutic / Swedish massage
Flowing, full-body work that relaxes muscles and improves circulation as a foundation for treatment.
02
Deep-tissue massage
Slower, firmer pressure that reaches deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue where tension settles.
03
Trigger-point therapy
Focused pressure on tight bands and tender spots that can refer pain to other areas.
04
Myofascial release
Sustained, gentle work on the fascia to ease restriction and restore glide between tissue layers.
05
Sports massage
Treatment built around active bodies, supporting training loads, recovery, and event preparation.
06
Stretching and mobility work
Assisted stretching and movement to extend the benefits of hands-on treatment into how you move.
What to expect
Your visit, step by step
From your first assessment to the care you take home, here is how a session unfolds.
01
Assessment and treatment plan
Your therapist takes a short history and looks at your posture and movement to understand what is driving your symptoms. Together you agree on goals and a treatment plan tailored to you.
02
Your hands-on session
Your Registered Massage Therapist works through the areas that need attention using the right mix of techniques for your body. Pressure is always adjusted to your comfort, and you stay in control throughout.
03
Home-care and ongoing support
You leave with simple home-care and mobility guidance to carry the benefits between visits. Your therapist suggests a sensible rhythm of follow-up based on your goals, never more than you need.
Session lengths of 30, 45, and 60 minutes are available, so you can book a focused treatment or a longer full-body session. Pressure is always adjusted to your comfort, and you stay in control the whole time. A shorter session suits a single area, while a longer one gives room to work more thoroughly.

Registered massage therapy FAQs
What conditions does massage therapy help with?
People commonly come to us for muscle tension and tightness, back, neck, and shoulder pain, sports and overuse injuries, post-training and post-Pilates recovery, posture and mobility concerns, tension headaches, and general stress relief. Your Registered Massage Therapist assesses your situation and builds a treatment plan around your goals. We focus on supporting your body, not on promising to cure any condition.
How is Registered Massage Therapy different from a spa massage?
A spa massage is built around relaxation. Registered Massage Therapy is delivered by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) who is registered with the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC). Sessions begin with an assessment of your posture and movement, then use targeted, clinically informed techniques to address specific concerns. You also receive a receipt for your extended health plan, which a spa cannot provide.
Will it hurt, and how much pressure is used?
Pressure is always adjusted to your comfort. Deeper work can feel intense in tight areas, but it should never be more than you can comfortably handle, and you stay in control the entire time. Just tell your therapist if you would like more or less pressure. Effective treatment does not require pain, and your therapist will work within a range that feels productive for you.
What should I wear, and what should I expect?
Wear whatever is comfortable to travel in. During treatment you undress only to your comfort level, and you are always properly draped with only the area being worked on exposed. Your first visit starts with a short assessment of your history, posture, and movement, followed by hands-on treatment and simple home-care guidance to take with you.
How often should I come in?
It depends on your goals and how your body responds. Some people come in for a focused stretch of regular sessions to work through a specific concern, then move to occasional maintenance visits. Active people often pair treatment with their training rhythm. Your therapist will suggest a sensible cadence and never push for more visits than you need.
Do you provide receipts and direct billing?
Yes. We provide receipts you can submit to your extended health plan, and direct billing is rolling out now: Sun Life is live today, with more insurers being onboarded (see our Insurance page for the current list). Coverage varies by policy, so it is worth checking your specific plan details.
