Booking
How do I book an appointment?
Book online any time through our Jane booking site, by service or by practitioner, with live availability. Or call the clinic at (604) 304-7779.
Can I book with a specific practitioner?
Yes. The online booking site lets you choose a practitioner and see their full menu and availability, or browse by service.
What languages does the team speak?
The team works in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese; several practitioners speak additional languages (see their bios).
Where are you located?
Two Richmond locations. The clinic (acupuncture, massage therapy, physiotherapy, and counselling) is inside Fittopia Wellness Studio at 4940 No. 3 Rd, Unit 122, Richmond, BC V6X 3A5, a short walk from Lansdowne Station; physiotherapy and registered massage therapy are also offered at Fittopia Fitness Center, 7951 Alderbridge Way Unit 155. See the Locations page for maps and parking.
Is there parking?
Yes, on-site parking is available, and the clinic is a short walk from Lansdowne Station.
Acupuncture & TCM
Does acupuncture hurt?
The needles are far thinner than injection needles; most people feel only a light tap or a mild, dull sensation, and many find sessions deeply relaxing. If anything feels uncomfortable, tell your acupuncturist and they will adjust.
Is acupuncture safe?
Yes. Treatment is provided by a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac) registered with the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC, using single-use sterile needles disposed of after every session, and your health history is reviewed before treatment.
What is Fu's Subcutaneous Needling (FSN)?
A modern acupuncture technique that works in the superficial fascia just beneath the skin, using a specialized needle with gentle swaying movements and guided reperfusion activities to release tight muscle and restore circulation. It is often used for stubborn chronic pain such as neck, shoulder, and back pain, sports tendinopathies, and sciatica. FSN is booked by phone: call (604) 304-7779.
Massage Therapy
How is Registered Massage Therapy different from a spa massage?
A spa massage is built around relaxation. Registered Massage Therapy is delivered by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) registered with the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC: sessions start with a posture and movement assessment, then use targeted clinical techniques. You also receive a receipt for your extended health plan, which a spa cannot provide.
Will massage therapy hurt, and how much pressure is used?
Pressure is always adjusted to your comfort; deeper work can feel intense in tight areas, but just tell your therapist if you want more or less. Effective treatment does not require pain.
Fittopia has two massage therapy locations. How do I choose?
Both are Registered Massage Therapy at the same session lengths and fees. The clinic (Fittopia Wellness Studio, 4940 No. 3 Rd, Unit 122, Richmond, BC V6X 3A5) runs with Parry Yeung, RMT, in a private treatment room alongside acupuncture, physiotherapy, and counselling. The Fitness Center practice (7951 Alderbridge Way Unit 155) runs with Anthony Antolis, RMT, beside the training floor, and no gym membership is needed. Each location books through its own online booking site.
Do you offer receipts and direct billing for massage therapy?
Every paid visit at either location comes with an official receipt showing your therapist's registration number. At the clinic, direct billing is rolling out now with Sun Life live today (see the Insurance page for the current list). At the Fitness Center, direct billing is available for many extended health plans, confirm your insurer when booking.
Physiotherapy
What does physiotherapy at the clinic involve?
Your Registered Physiotherapist assesses your history and movement, then builds a treatment plan for injuries, persistent pain, concussion, or vestibular symptoms. Treatment can include one-on-one Clinical Pilates, dry needling, manual therapy, and electrical modalities.
Fittopia has two physiotherapy locations. How do I choose?
Both are part of Fittopia Health Care. The clinic (Fittopia Wellness Studio, 4940 No. 3 Rd Unit 122) is one-on-one in a private treatment room with Registered Physiotherapist Johnny Guan: Clinical Pilates, dry needling, and concussion and vestibular rehab. The Fitness Center practice (7951 Alderbridge Way Unit 155) runs with Registered Physiotherapist Winston Yeung, and treatment moves straight onto real training equipment in the same appointment. Each location books through its own online booking site.
Does physiotherapy at the Fitness Center offer direct billing?
Yes. Winston Yeung at Fittopia Fitness Center direct-bills Pacific Blue Cross (PROVIDERnet), Manulife, Sun Life, RBC Insurance, Desjardins Insurance, GreenShield Insurance, Empire Life Insurance, Equitable Life, SSQ Insurance, Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance, and MEDIC Construction Insurance. He does not accept ICBC or WorkSafe BC claims. Bring your benefits card, and confirm your physiotherapy coverage with your insurer before your first visit.
Do I need a gym membership for physiotherapy at the Fitness Center?
No. Physiotherapy at the Fitness Center is open to members and non-members alike, and non-members get complimentary gym floor access during their appointment.
How do I book Clinical Pilates?
One-on-one Clinical Pilates with our Registered Physiotherapist is booked online: choose a physiotherapy session marked Clinical Pilates included. New patients start with the Initial Physiotherapy Assessment with Clinical Pilates included.
Counselling
What happens in a first counselling session?
Mostly getting to know you: what brings you in, what you are hoping for, and shaping a few goals with your counsellor. There is nothing to prepare and nothing you have to share before you feel ready. Sessions are available in person or virtually.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes. What you share stays between you and your counsellor, within the standard professional and legal limits that protect safety.
Billing
Do you direct bill my insurance?
Direct billing at the clinic is rolling out now: Sun Life is live today, with 25+ more insurers coming within 1 to 3 weeks; see the Insurance page for the current list. Either way you always receive an official receipt to submit yourself, or call (604) 304-7779 to check where your insurer stands.
Do I get a receipt for my visit?
Yes. Every paid visit gets an official receipt with your practitioner's registration number (R.Ac, RMT, Registered Physiotherapist, or RSW), ready for your extended health plan.
