Your first visit
What to expect
Assessment and intake
A conversation about your health, goals, and history, blending a modern intake with TCM pulse and tongue assessment before any needles are placed.
Your treatment
You rest while very fine, single-use sterile needles are placed; the sensation is mild. Cupping, gua sha, tui na, moxibustion, electro-acupuncture, or ear acupuncture may be added.
Ongoing care
We map out a simple plan and adjust as you go. Many people notice a change within the first few sessions.

Cupping, moxibustion, and fine-needle acupuncture, delivered by a Registered Acupuncturist.
A specialized technique
Fu's Subcutaneous Needling (FSN)
Fu's Subcutaneous Needling is a modern acupuncture technique that works in the superficial fascia just beneath the skin. A specialized FSN needle, gentle swaying movements, and guided reperfusion activities release tight muscle and restore circulation, often with noticeable relief within a single session.
At Fittopia Health Care, FSN is offered for concussion recovery and chronic pain.
Concussion recovery
Most effective in the early stage, FSN can ease post-traumatic and cervicogenic headaches, vertigo and dizziness, and neck pain and stiffness after a concussion, and supports better focus and sleep.
Chronic and stubborn pain
Core uses include neck, shoulder, back, and leg pain, and sports tendinopathies such as tennis or golfer's elbow, wrist pain, Achilles tendinitis, and plantar fasciitis. FSN can also ease sciatica, postherpetic neuralgia, and tension headaches or migraines, and may help with menstrual cramps and chronic stomach discomfort.
FSN is booked by phone. Call (604) 304-7779 and we will match you with the right practitioner.

Acupuncture FAQs
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are far thinner than injection needles, and most people feel only a light tap or a mild, dull sensation. If anything feels uncomfortable, tell your acupuncturist and they will adjust.
Is acupuncture safe?
Yes. Treatment is provided by a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac) registered with the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC), using single-use sterile needles, and your health history is reviewed before treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
Acute concerns often respond within about 3 to 6 sessions; chronic issues may take around 8 to 12, then occasional maintenance visits. Your acupuncturist will map out a plan and adjust as you progress.
Do you provide receipts or direct billing for insurance?
Yes. We provide receipts you can submit to your extended health plan, and direct billing is rolling out now: Sun Life is live today, with more insurers being onboarded (see our Insurance page for the current list). Coverage varies by plan, so check your benefits before your appointment.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Have a light meal beforehand, stay hydrated, and wear loose clothing that rolls up around the arms and legs. A few unhurried minutes before and after your session also helps.
Can acupuncture be combined with massage, Pilates, or training?
Yes. Acupuncture is delivered at Fittopia Wellness Studio and coordinated with the movement and rehabilitation services on site. Many patients combine it with massage therapy or Clinical Pilates, and your acupuncturist can help you sequence everything.
What is Fu's Subcutaneous Needling (FSN)?
Fu's Subcutaneous Needling (FSN) is a modern acupuncture technique that works in the superficial fascia just beneath the skin, using a specialized needle and guided reperfusion activities to release tight muscle and restore circulation. It is used for concussion recovery and stubborn chronic pain such as neck, shoulder, and back pain, sports tendinopathies, and sciatica, with many people noticing relief within a single session.
